Madeline led the Integrated Heritage Interpretation Plan for Prospect Hill and Related Places, a network of 12 parks that forms one of Western Sydney’s most significant cultural landscapes. Situated on Dharug Country, the project engaged with a powerful and contested history spanning thousands of years of Aboriginal connection to Country, through to colonisation, resistance, and successive waves of migration.
Working across multiple sites and community contexts, Madeline developed a cohesive interpretation framework that recognises the layered histories of the landscape while allowing each place to retain its own distinct identity. Extensive engagement with Aboriginal stakeholders, local communities, and Council ensured a balanced approach to truth-telling and inclusive storytelling, resonating with the diverse communities who use these places today.
Madeline led research, cultural landscape analysis, and consultation across the project area, translating complex narratives into a clear and practical placemaking strategy. The plan combined a strong strategic vision with a pragmatic implementation framework, addressing staged funding, maintenance, and long-term asset management. It provided flexible, scalable guidance for interpretive signage, digital storytelling, and future visitor experiences—offering Council a clear roadmap to deliver meaningful outcomes while caring for these important places over time.
